Almost the perfect birdwatching jacket. Review by Welshhillbilly.
I have been wearing this jacket for my daily birdwatching walks for almost afortnight now.It does exactly as it says.It kept the wind ,and the hefty showers encountered out.It is very warm to wear, almost too much so on the milder days.It is much stiffer than a conventional fleece due to the internal membrane, and this detracts just a little from the comfort levels. It could have done with being an inch or two longer,as my jumper showed just a little below in the front, and the sizing is definately not generous. This is almost the perfect birdwatching jacket, and should have been with a little more thought to design.Having said all that, this is still an excellent product, which i will learn to love in time. These lightweight garments will take you through from some chilly autunm day to doler wetter winter weather! Review by Birdwatching Magazine Sept 09
In time for Autumn Country Innovation has produced a matching jacket and bodywarmer in both mens and womens style, which combine low-weight, smart looking garments with warmth, wind protection and shower-proofing. At this time of year, its often the case that you only need a little extra warmth, not the full insulation of a winter fleece or quilted jacket. In these circumstances, the bodywarmer is the perfect thing to slip over your shirt or blouse. Or it can be used under the companion jacket.
The material feels very light and theres no bulking under the arms so you can move with ease, even with the jacket worn over the bodywarmer.
The construction of the sleeves minimises bunching at the elbows which again, gives freedom of movement.
The fabric repelled water very well, even when held under a running tap, and the inside remained dry.
The chunky zips were quick and esay to do up, even with gloves on.
The slimming black panels on the ladies verision make both the jacket and the bodywarmer look stylish.
Overall verdict - I think these lightweight garments are versatile enough to take you through form a slightly chilly autumn day to coler, wetter winter weather. They're appropriate in a variety of situations, as well, not just for birdwatching, as they wouldnt look out of place in the local high street. And they would be handy to tuck in your suitcase for birding abroad, as they're relatively light and roll up quite small.
How did it score? Design and ease of use 9/10, Quality 10/10, Value for money 10/10.
