Worth the wait Review by John Matchett
I seem to have spent half a lifetime finding a jacket that is spot-on. Over the years I've done a lot of walking over in the Alps in the summer months - often with water leaking down my neck in the mountains whilst smug Germans march past in their expensive hi-tech gear, bless them! This Innovation jacket is a real eye-opener; it manages to be cosy, snug, practical and rather smart all at the same time. It also fits very well - I'm 6'5" but quite slim and the XL size is long enough in the body and sleeve without being ridiculously wide (draw-stings on the waist allow you to nip it in to show off your gorgeous figure). Huge pockets make carrying stuff and keeping it dry really easy. The hi-tech fabric blocks all the wind and rain and yet the material is really quiet. The intelligently adjustable hood is a pleasure to use on blustery days, blocking out the weather but allowing you to still hear properly.
This is a really nice product designed and manufactured to a very high level indeed. If you're in the market for a really nice all-weather jacket, this should be top of your shortlist.

As near as I can get.... Review by Tony Snowden
The Innovation jacket is as near as I can get to my requirements - plenty of pockets, including handwarmer pockets behind the front patch ones and a secure zip pocket, accessible whist the main zip is zipped up. It is surprising how many supposedly quality jackets don't have more than one or two pockets. Being a birder, I have lots of notebooks and other paraphenalia to carry about and I need lots of pockets.
It is light, windproof and with an excellent detachable (but secure when attached!) hood. It is warm enough to wear as an overcoat in cooler weather, or over a fleece when it's really cold. It is made of rugged material and does not get torn on thorns, etc.
My jacket, which I bought in 2007, is still going strong and looks as good as new, despite being worn nearly every day in winter and frequently in the warmer part of the year.
The only problems I have found are :
1.the front patch pockets are NOT waterproof in heavy rain - water works up through the drain-holes in the bottom of the pocket
2. on my example, the placket at the top of the chest area gets stuck in the zip when I zip it right up. I have to manoeuvre it out of the way, which is tricky, but can be done. In fairness to CI, they offered to look at it for me, but I can't afford to be without the jacket whilst they do so, which says something about how good I find it. The problem is probably specific to my jacket - a slight manufacturing fault, perhaps.
Overall, it is an excellent jacket and though pricey, well worth the money. Country Innovation is an excellent company and a pleasure to deal with. (Posted on 05/11/2011) -
Innovation Jacket - the best you can buy! Review by David Hoskins
Price Value Quality I was recommended Country Innovation by a friend who has been wearing one of their jackets for many years, and purchased my Innovation jacket direct from them in January. The advice I was given on the phone was great and the quick delivery made it a pleasure to deal with the company. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, and my Innovation jacket has since lived up to its reputation. It most definately is a highly waterproof jacket, and I was the only one dry whilst birding in the rain on the Scilly Isles. For the money I have yet to see anything else that comes anywhere near it for the amount of pockets that you get and the hood that really does work. Its a great walking, birding or general country jacket and I would thoroughly recommend it! (Posted on 24/10/2011)
